“It’s important that we take time out to remember and appreciate the men and women who gave everything they had in service of our nation. I also think it’s crucial to remember the daily impact that sacrifice has on their family members who live right here in our community, each going on daily without the ones they loved so much,” said Cronin.

The ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial, located outside near the pond on the DuPage County Government Complex, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. The memorial commemorates DuPage County residents who have lost their life in military conflicts at home and abroad beginning with the Black Hawk War in 1832 and continuing on to the most recent engagements overseas.

Additionally, the DuPage County offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. County departments and services will reopen on Tuesday, May 27.
