Easter Egg Hunt, Parade, Best Bonnet Contest This Weekend in Downtown Wheaton

It will be time again this weekend to Celebrate Spring in downtown Wheaton. 

The Celebrate Spring/Celebrate Easter Egg Hunt will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park at Union and Western Avenue with the egg hunt, according to the Downtown Wheaton Association website. 

Those attending the egg hunt should arrive early — "once the (Easter) Bunny announces the start of the Easter egg hunt, the rush is on and the hunt finishes in minutes," according to the website. 

Following the egg hunt, several family friendly events will be held at Martin Memorial Plaza at Front and Hale Street. An Easter Parade will be held starting at 10:15 a.m. and will move down Hale Street to Martin Memorial Plaza. 

Other events include: 

  • 10:30 a.m.: Easter Bonnet Contest, Martin Memorial Plaza
  • 11 a.m.: Front Street Dance Center Performance, Martin Memorial Plaza
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Pictures with the Easter Bunny at Wear & Share,  139 North Hale St.
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Visit participating stores for Easter treats

During Saturday's even, local residents should expect temporary road closures from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the following streets: 

  • Front Street between North Hale and Main Street, and
  • Hale Street between Liberty Drive and Seminary Avenue.
