Contest: Zoo Seeking Bobcat Mascot

A new Bobcat exhibit is being constructed this year thanks to the efforts of the Cosley Foundation, the Wheaton Park District, and Cosley Zoo supporters. With a marketing campaign already underway, Cosley Zoo is seeking the assistance of the public to name a new bobcat mascot and is seeking volunteers to tryout to be the mascot. This mascot will help the Zoo announce the arrival of the new bobcats that will be arriving in the Fall of 2012. The mascot will make community appearances March through November 2012. For more information regarding mascot tryouts or to enter a name in the contest, please visit the Zoo’s web site, at www.cosleyzoo.org.

The bobcat mascot suit is light brown with black stripes and black tipped ears. All name entries must be submitted by noon on February 28, 2012. The winning name will be chosen by March 6, 2012. The winner will receive a gift basket from Cosley Zoo ($100 value) and will be invited to attend a Wheaton City Council meeting to be recognized.

Cosley Zoo is seeking 4-5 volunteers to represent the Zoo, in the new bobcat costume, at various community events from March through October 2012. Events may include, but are not limited to, a Wheaton City Council meeting, Taste of Wheaton appearances (May 31-June3), 4th of July Parade and Fireworks (July3 & 4) and more. This is a great way for students to earn service hours!

Mascot tryout dates are as follows:

An informational meeting - February 23, 2012 in the Arrowhead Room (Room 230).

Tryouts - Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:30pm in the Memorial Room (1st Floor).
