YELLOW HOUSE ARTISTS GROUP PRESENTING SHOW AT MAYSLAKE PEABODY ESTATE BEGINNING JUNE 12

"Art in the Mansion" Exhibit Will Feature Original Works by 31 Artists

Take in an exhibition of works in oil pastel by the Yellow House Artists at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. The free show will run from June 12 to July 26 on Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The exhibit, which will offer some pieces for sale, will showcase the works of 31member artists reflecting different styles ranging from traditional and realistic works to impressionistic and abstract pieces. Visitors will see landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes and more. A public artists’ reception on Saturday, June 29 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. will give visitors the opportunity to discuss the pieces and inspirations with the artists themselves.
The Yellow House Artists work in oil pastel, a medium first designed in the 1940s at the request of Pablo Picasso. Pure pigments are suspended in mineral oil and formed into sticks, offering ease of application and portability. Oil pastels offer a color palette much like oil paints, and can be blended and layered at an artist’s discretion.
Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook. For more information, call Mayslake at 630-206-9566.
