“WONDERS OF WINTER”

Wonders of Winter to be Held on Feb. 2 at Mayslake Peabody Estate

Discover new ways to experience the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County this season during “Wonders of Winter” Saturday, Feb. 2 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Mayslake Forest Preserve in Oak Brook.
During this free event, take a horse-drawn hayride through the woods, and try your hand at geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunt. Meet live birds of prey from Willowbrook Wildlife Center’s raptor-education program and members of a local dog-sledding team. If ice and snow conditions are right, learn how to reel in a lunker through the ice, or strap on a pair of snowshoes and hit the trails. Warm up around an open fire while making s’mores; then, step inside historic Mayslake Hall for games and crafts.
Mayslake Forest Preserve is located at 1717 W. 31st St. one-quarter mile west of Route 83. For more information, call the District’s Visitor Services at 630-933-7248.
Good things happen when you explore the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s 60 forest preserves and five education facilities. For information on ways to experience conservation, education and recreation in your neck of the woods, call 630-933-7200 or visit dupageforest.org.
