“We’re excited to share important information more frequently with our forest preserve fans, such as the latest on coyotes in the forest preserves and treatments to combat invasive species” said Susan Olafson, the District’s director of the Office of Public Affairs. In addition to general information about the District, specialty lists offer the latest from Willowbrook Wildlife Center, information about school, scout and youth programs and even special offers from the District’s three public golf courses.
The e-newsletters are among many publications and information sources that visitors can access from the District’s newly redesigned website, dupageforest.org. There, they can read the agency’s award-winning quarterly magazine, The Conservationist, print trail maps, check out a calendar full of hundreds of free events and much more. Readers are also invited to provide feedback on what they want to know about the outdoors by sending an e-mail to forest@dupageforest.org
Established in 1915, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County manages over 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year, over 4.3 million visitors enjoy the District’s 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, five education centers, and scores of scheduled programs and events.
