PAPERMAKING AND BOTANICAL PRINTING WORKSHOPS AT MAYSLAKE PEABODY ESTATE

Art Classes at Mayslake Peabody Estate

Learn the art of papermaking and try your hand at botanical printing during two upcoming workshops at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook.
      On Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., join the “Papermaking Workshop” to learn how to use fibers including kozo, gampi, cotton and flax to make paper. Participants will take home several sheets of colorful textured papers suitable for collages, books, cards and other mixed media.
      On Oct. 27 from noon to 5 p.m., take part in the “Botanical Printing Workshop” to discover the art of letter press and to learn techniques for using organic materials to make unique art. Participants will take home prints created on handmade paper using leaves and flowers to apply ink and paint.
      All materials will be provided. The workshops are suitable for adults only and cost $60 per participant. Individuals attending both classes get a discounted rate of $110. Get more information and register by calling Mayslake Peabody Estate at 630-206-9566.
