KIDS TO BE “BUSY AS A BEE” APRIL 7 AT KLINE CREEK FARM

KIDS TO BE "BUSY AS A BEE" APRIL 7 AT KLINE CREEK FARM

It may seem like the winter chill has lingered too long, but warm weather will return soon and bees will buzz around blooming plants. Kids ages 7 – 12 are invited to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Kline Creek Farm to discover all the good things that bees do during a brand new event, “Busy as a Bee,” on Sunday, April 7.
During these one-hour programs, participants will meet the farm’s expert beekeepers and try a taste of honey. They will examine the structure of a hive to see how bees live and work together and will learn about pollination, honey, beeswax and more. Kids will even get to bring their excitement home through two make-and-take activities — cucumber seeds to start bee-friendly gardens at home and crafts to make their own bee companions.
“Busy as a Bee” costs $6 per person, and programs begin at 9:30, 10, 10:30 and 11 a.m. and 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30 and 3 p.m. Adults must accompany all children, and advance registration is required by calling the farm at 630-876-5900.
Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road, is an 1890s living-history farm and is open from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Admission and a variety of seasonal activities are free. For information on the farm, call 630-876-5900 or visit dupageforest.org/klinecreekfarm.
