JOIN "FOREST FITNESS WALKS" FOR HEART-HEALTHY EXERCISE OUTDOORS

Get some heart-healthy exercise while enjoying the outdoors during the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s free “Forest Fitness Walks” for adults from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Mondays through May 20 and on June 3.
“We’ll explore different locations so healthy hikers not only receive guided introductions to some of the county’s most popular trails but also experience spring in a variety of habitats,” said program leader Dave Andrusyk, a naturalist with the District’s Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center in Oak Brook.
Hikes are scheduled at the following forest preserves: West Branch in Bartlett on April 15, Greene Valley in Naperville on April 22, West DuPage Woods in West Chicago on April 29, Meacham Grove in Bloomingdale on May 6, Kline Creek Farm and the surrounding Timber Ridge on May 13, Waterfall Glen in Darien on May 20 and Fullersburg Woods in Oak Brook on June 3.
Participants may register for individual walks or the entire series by calling Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center at 630-850-8110.

Want to move for your health, but can’t join these hikes? The District offers more than 80 miles of multipurpose trails for hiking or cycling. Access is free, and most locations are open daily from
one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset. Maps are available at information kiosks at many preserves and online at dupageforest.org under “Things to Do” and “Recreational Activities.” Visitors can also request maps by emailing forest@dupageforest.org or calling 630-933-7248.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns and manages over 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year more than 4 million visitors enjoy 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, five education centers and scores of programs.
