“Art Appreciation” class will help participants expand their knowledge of visual art and how to enjoy it during a seven-part course at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. Class meets Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 23 through May 21 and June 4 and 11.
Participants will learn about art history while also investigating the deeper cultural meanings of visual arts. Participants will be taught art-related concepts and terminology, examine how to recognize and understand its many disciplines, and find out how to use the information to analyze and review art. Discussions will highlight historic artistic movements as well as the issues facing the contemporary art world. The course will also include a group excursion to one of the Chicago’s art museums.
