FREE WOOD CHIPS MAY 4 AT FOREST PRESERVE NURSERY

FREE WOOD CHIPS MAY 4 AT FOREST PRESERVE NURSERY

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will have a free wood-chip pickup day on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its native-plant nursery in Blackwell Forest Preserve, 29W218 Mack Road in West Chicago.
Individuals may bring vehicles no larger than pickup trucks to take mulch. A staff member operating a loader will help fill truck beds. Residents taking smaller amounts should bring their own containers.
The nursery entrance is located on the south side of Mack Road about one-half mile east of Route 59. For more information, call 630-876-5920.
The District makes its own mulch from tree-trimming and brush-clearing projects and uses it along trails and for landscaping throughout the forest preserves. Only when a surplus of mulch has built up beyond the needs of District projects is it made available to the public.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns and manages 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year more than 4 million visitors enjoy 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, five education centers and scores of programs.
