FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT OFFERS SPEAKERS’ BUREAU
Speakers' Bureau Offered through the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County invites clubs, businesses and civic groups to learn about its forest preserves, education centers, and year-round programs and events through its Nature’s Ambassadors Speakers’ Bureau, which runs annually from November through April.
District staff members may speak on a variety of topics. The “Open Spaces” program is a general introduction to the District’s mission of conservation, education and recreation. “Restoring Nature’s Treasures” provides insight into the District’s natural-resource-management efforts. Staff may also be able to provide information on specialized topics, subject to availability. For more information or to schedule these free programs, call 630-933-7246.
Three programs are offered by the staff at the District’s Willowbrook Wildlife Center, a native wildlife education and rehabilitation facility. Free programs include “Wildlife Neighbors,” which explores harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife, and “Barn Owl Recovery,” which showcases the captive rearing and release program for these birds. “Hunters of the Sky,” which has a $125 fee and is only available during the day, discusses native raptors and features encounters with a resident bird of prey from the center. To schedule these programs, call the center at 630-942-6200.
