Wednesday, March 13
Restoration-in-Progress Tours — Take a docent-guided tour through Mayslake Peabody Estate to learn about the past — and future — of this historic 1920s Tudor Revival-style mansion. Tours begin at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook. All ages. $5 per person. Registration required for group tours. Call 630-206-9566.

Saturday, March 16
Acappellago Concert — Enjoy the a cappella sounds of Acappellago as they perform “Escape to … Blue Skies.” 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook. All ages. $17 per adult; $15 per student or senior. For tickets, call 708-484-3797, ext. 2.

Blacksmithing Demonstrations — Stop by the wagon shed to see the blacksmith repair equipment and demonstrate the tools and techniques of the trade. Bread-Baking Class — Learn how to bake bread the way that it was done in the 1890s, and take home a pan of rolls along with instructions and recipes. Sessions take place 10 – 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 – 3 p.m. at Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago. Ages 10 and up; under 15 with an adult. $25 per person. Night Owl Ball — Support Willowbrook Wildlife Center at a gala evening of food, music and fun. Bid for travel packages, behind-the-scenes tours, sports tickets, artwork and more in live and silent auctions. And, experience close-up encounters with some of the center’s resident raptors in the event’s opening hour. 6 p.m. – midnight at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, 3003 Corporate West Drive in Lisle. Volunteer Restoration Workday — Help restore a natural area by removing nonnative vegetation or planting seed. Two sessions: 9 a.m. – noon at Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve in Naperville on Plainfield-Naperville Road one-half mile south of 75th Street. 9 a.m. – noon at West Chicago Prairie Forest Preserve in West Chicago on Industrial Drive one-half mile south of Hawthorne Lane. Get Sticky! Maple Syrup Sundays — Take a self-guided stroll through the woods, and discover the secret of turning tree sap into syrup. Activities ongoing.
