BLACKWELL FAMILY CAMPGROUND TO OPEN MAY 3

Starting Friday, May 3, spend some of your summer days outdoors and nights under the stars at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Blackwell Family Campground in Warrenville.
The campground will be open Friday and Saturday nights through Sept. 29 as well as Sunday nights May 26 and Sept. 1. It will also be open the entire week of Independence Day.
All 64 sites have electricity; some accept trailers or motor homes. Each has a fire ring and picnic table and can hold eight people, two tents and one vehicle. Showers, flush toilets and water pumps are available. Firewood is $5 a bundle; outside firewood is not allowed. Free nature activities are offered to campers most weekends.
Fees, which are nonrefundable, are $20 per night per site for DuPage County residents and $30 for nonresidents. Permit holders must be at least 21 years old and remain on site all night. Alcohol is prohibited. Advance reservations are recommended, especially for holiday weekends. For a map and reservation form, visit dupageforest.org and click “Things to Do” and “Recreational Activities.” To make reservations, call Visitor Services weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 630-933-7248.
