"On Being a Chekovian Christian and a Blues Man: Christianity, Pragmatism and Democracy"

Philosopher and activist Cornel West delivers a lecture at Wheaton College titled "On Being a Chekovian Christian and a Blues Man: Christianity, Pragmatism and Democracy."

Best known for his classic book, "Race Matters" (Vintage, 1994), Dr. West also is a frequent guest on the Bill Maher Show, Colbert Report and Tavis Smiley's television and public radio programs. He has a passion to communicate to a variety of publics in order to keep alive the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. - a legacy of telling the truth and bearing witness to love and justice.

This lecture is sponsored by the Center for Applied Christian Ethics and the Philosophy Department at Wheaton College. Free and open to the public, it takes place in Coray Gym, located in the Todd M. Beamer Student Center. For more information, call 630.752.5886.
