League of Women Voters Program on “Workforce Development in DuPage”

There are good jobs in advanced manufacturing, with
excellent salaries and benefits, available in DuPage County, but these jobs
require special skills. There are job seekers in DuPage County, either the
unemployed who need to reinvent themselves or high school graduates just
getting started, who need to acquire the skills required to secure these good
jobs. How to connect the job seekers with the employers in DuPage County is the
subject of the League of Women Voters of Wheaton program titled “Workforce
Development in DuPage” on Thursday, September 19, 2013.

DuPage United, a nonpartisan organization made up of
churches, synagogues, mosques and non-profits, formed a new manufacturing
initiative called DuPage Connect. This new initiative brings together
manufacturers, educators, non-profits and other agencies as an advisory board
that assists job seekers and manufacturers in DuPage County.
