Wheaton League of Women Voters Education Program

Education, Community

The LWV of Wheaton has a great
environmentally-friendly program planned for Thursday, April 17, 2014, in
honor of Earth Month. It is called Climate Change: Local Solutions. The reality
that climate change is a global problem can be overwhelming and daunting,
so we’d like to bring the possible solutions down to a local level to reassure
citizens that there are efforts that we can make to help. Our
panelists for the evening will be Kay McKeen from both SCARCE and the Wheaton
Environmental Improvement Commission, Chris Oakley from the Village of Carol
Stream, and Lisa Medearis from Sierra Club of Illinois, which is working with
DuPage County to become a “Cool County.” We will learn how individuals and
communities can make a difference by recycling, conserving, and moving to
cleaner energy use.

The program will be at the Wheaton Park District
Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard, Wheaton. There will be a meet and greet at
7:00 PM and the program will begin at 7:30 PM. It is free, open to the public, and all are welcomed.
