Fox Valley Philharmonic to Present a "Not Just for Kids" Classical Children's Concert

At 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon, February 23rd, the Fox Valley
Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maryann Flock, will present a
special “Children's Concert”.  The free
concert will feature a performance of the classic, Aladdin, by Carl Nielsen. Among other favorites on the program is What’s Up at the Symphony, the music of
Looney Tunes cartoons.  Both works
continue to have wide appeal to “young and old alike”.  There will be an opportunity for children to
have a brief turn conducting the orchestra in a march by Anton Bruckner.  During the intermission, there will be an
"Instrument Petting Zoo" where children can try playing various
orchestral instruments, and the Instrument Doctor will give a “check-up” to any
old instruments that are brought in, to provide an estimate on their value or
repair.  This concert is programmed for
children, but guarantees a concert full of enjoyment for the young and “the
young-at-heart”.

Admission to the concert is free, but donations are
appreciated.  The 3rd annual
Children’s Concert will held at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 420 West
Downer Place in Aurora (There is plenty of parking space in the lot behind the
church, accessible from Garfield Avenue).

This concert is partially supported by a grant from the
Illinois Arts Council Agency.  For this
and future events information, visit the Fox Valley Academy of Music
Performance website at www.FVacademy.org
