New Philharmonic -- "Mahler"

Maestro Kirk Muspratt leads the acclaimed New Philharmonic in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major at Wheaton College's Edman Memorial Chapel, 501 College Avenue in Wheaton, Ill. on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. 

The evening will begin with "Kirk's Klassical Boot Kamp" using musical excerpts and video clips to provide insights and illustrate pivotal ideas on the symphonic structure found in Mahler's innovative composition and “Titan” orchestration.

The audience will then be treated to Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major:

I.   Langsam, Schleppend --- Immer sehr gemächlich                      

II.  Kräftig bewegt

III. Feirlich und gemessen, ohne zu schleppen

IV. Stürmisch bewegt.
