Fox Valley Philharmonic "Not-For-Kids-Only" Children's Concert

At 3:00 on Sunday afternoon, February 24th, the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maryann Flock, will present a special "Children's Concert."   The free concert will feature a performance of the Ravel classic, Mother Goose Suite, with stories told by Virginia Pebelske, “Mz. Ginger” Travelling Storytime and Stories-in-the-Park Librarian for the Aurora Public Library. Among other favorites on the program is the Children’s March by Australian born composer, Percy Grainger.  Both works continue to have wide appeal to “young and old alike”.  There will be an opportunity for children to have a brief stint conducting the orchestra in a march from Mozart’s opera, Cosi fan tutte. During the intermission, there will be an "Instrument Petting Zoo" where children can try playing various orchestral instruments. This concert is programmed especially for children, but guarantees a heart full of enjoyment for the young and “the young-at-heart”.

Admission to the concert is free, but donations are appreciated.  The children’s concert will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 420 West Downer Place in Aurora (there is plenty of parking space in the lot behind the church, accessible from Garfield Avenue).

This concert is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.  For this and future events information, visit the Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance website at www.fvacademy.org or call 630-476-9072.
