Twenty one acts will perform at Edison Middle School’s annual variety show which takes place from January 30 through February 1. Themed “ENL: Edison Night Live” after the perennial favorite Saturday Night Live, this year’s variety show features comedic skits, singers, dancers, bands, violinists, pianists, and other musicians.
Performances begin on Wednesday, January 30 with a student matinee. The general public is invited to attend shows at 7 pm on both Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1. Tickets are $5 per person and may be ordered by calling Kelly Mahoney at 630-682-2050, ext. 3234 or through email at Edisontheatre@gmail.com. Performances take place in the Edison auditorium (1125 S. Wheaton Avenue in Wheaton).
Directing ENL is Jeanne Johannesen, who teaches Orchestra at Edison and several Wheaton elementary schools. The technical director is Kelly Mahoney, who teaches social studies, and performance seminar classes at Edison.
Students auditioned for the show and have been rehearsing throughout the month of January. “We have a number of students at Edison who are dedicated to performing arts. I am impressed by their talents, creativity, and cooperation. They should take pride in representing our school so well,” said Mahoney.
The show’s emcees, Rosie Glaser, Nate Gorski, and Jack Wooton, created an entertaining script that includes skits that are reminiscent of some SNL classics including Celebrity Jeopardy and “What Up with That?”
