Concert and Poetry Reading: "Uncanny Valley"

Wheaton College welcomes poets Jon Woodward and Oni Buchanan in a concert performance and poetry reading.


The presentation includes Woodward's performance of his work "Uncanny Valley". Oni Buchanan will join in the reading and accompany with a piano performance of a newly-commissioned piece by composer John Gibson.

Poet Jon Woodward authored Uncanny Valley (Cleveland State University Poetry Center. 2012), Rain (Wave Books, 2006), and Mister Goodbye Easter Island (Alice James Books, 2003).

Oni Buchanan is an award-winning poet and concert pianist who specializes in music by female composers of the 21st century. Buchanan brings grace, agility, and intensity to an incredible range of piano literature. Author of three books, her book of poetry, Spring (University of Illinois Press, 2008), was selected as a winner of the National Poetry Series and also received the 2009 Massachusetts Book Award. Buchanan and Woodward live in Boston and are wife and husband.

The Wheaton College Artist Series, the Humanities and Theological Studies Department and the English Department at Wheaton College are co-sponsoring this event. Free and open to the public, the Thursday afternoon performance takes place in Barrows Auditorium in the Billy Graham Center.
