Community Corner

Community Concert with Wheaton College Women's Chorale

Christ our Savior Lutheran Church in Winfield is hosting a “Concert for the Community” on Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2013 at 3 p.m.  The church is located at 0S501 Summit Drive in Winfield, just north of Roosevelt Road, and west of Winfield Road. Admission to the Concert is FREE and everyone is welcome  The concert is being underwritten by Thrivent for Lutherans and Winfield Community Bank.

The concert will feature the Wheaton College Women's Chorale. The Chorale has sung for enthusiastic audiences in this country, Europe and the British Isles. Composed of over sixty students representing many states and a variety of academic majors, the Chorale's central goal is to worship God with its musical offerings, to uplift audiences through shared ministry, and to enrich the college experience for ensemble members.

With this in mind, the women of the Chorale, under the guidance of director Mary Hopper, maintain a busy concert schedule on the Wheaton College campus and beyond. We are very fortunate to get this group to Winfield.  The public concert experiences are undergirded by a rigorous rehearsal schedule and social activities which strengthen the bonds of friendship and fellowship in Jesus Christ. In addition to ministry in churches around the nation and campus appearances, the Women's Chorale has appeared in recent years at both regional and national conventions of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Listeners far and wide have praised the ensemble for its superb music-making and Christian witness.
