Wheaton Patch—There's an App for That (and it's Free)

Click below to download it for free! An Android version of the app is also scheduled for release.

First, you could add Patch to your smartphone's home screen. Now, our Patchy tech wizards have created an even easier (and very cool) way for you to access "The Patch" on the go—for free.

Now available in the Apple app store, the Patch application for iPhone launched Thursday, giving readers a way to stay connected with their community. Users can even change sites with ease to check out what’s happening in nearby Patches. The app is also available on the iPod Touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad.

And if you’re an Android user, there’s no need to feel left out: An Android version is set to launch soon.

Patch app features include:

  • The Front 5, allowing users to quickly access the most relevant stories of the day
  • The weather report and forecast
  • Community news, photos and videos
  • Events happening near you (just click to add them to your personal calendar)
  • Area business listings

The app also makes it easy for readers to interact with Patch by commenting, uploading photos to stories and business listings, and sharing their favorite content on Facebook. There’s even a way to send your thoughts on the app itself to Patch’s tech team.

Where’s the link to the app in the App Store?

The Front 5 is the first page to greet you on the iPhone app and contains the most relevant local news, events and editor tweets.

What is the Favorites feature?

We have built-in a feature that lets users cache any Patch content for offline viewing (in airports, subways, etc.). It’s a pretty neat interface!

Soon!
