'West Suburban Living': Wheaton is No. 8 in Western Suburbs

'West Suburban Living' ranked Wheaton No. 8 in its study of the Western Suburbs of Chicago suburbs that used schools, downtown areas, home values, parks and crime rates to determine its "Top Towns."

Wheaton is the eighth-best Western Suburb of Chicago, behind Geneva and topping River Forest in the West Suburban Living study, featured in its most recent issue.

Rated for schools, downtown areas, home values, public safety, location and parks, the magazine's "Top Town" was Hinsdale, followed by Clarendon Hills.

Wheaton is also No. 8 in the list that ranks downtown areas, behind No. 7 La Grange and topping No. 9 St. Charles. Naperville is No. 1.

Hinsdale tops the list of average home values, with the average home value of approximately $915,00. Wheaton is last at No. 15, with an average home value of approximately $315,000.

In the list of the top schools, Wheaton is No. 6, behind No. 5, River Forest and topping No. 7, Geneva. Hinsdale is also the best town for schools and education, according to the ranking.
