West Street Railroad Crossing to Close Sunday

The Union Pacific Railroad will close the West Street crossing in downtown Wheaton Sunday, Jul. 10 for signal and track repairs. The crossing will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic for approximately 10 to 12 hours, according to a release from the City of Wheaton.

Union Pacific advises residents to use the following traffic detours during this period: 

• For southbound West Street traffic: Southbound West Street to eastbound Front Street, to southbound Wheaton Avenue, to westbound Liberty Drive to southbound West Street
• For northbound West Street traffic: Northbound West Street to westbound Liberty Drive, to northbound Bridge Street, to eastbound Front Street, to northbound West Street.

The City will post changes to this schedule on its website if necessary.
