 found that Wheaton's population dropped five percent. From 2000 to 2010, Illinois' Hispanic population grew at a rate five times faster than the state's total population. In Wheaton, the reported Hispanic population is 2,617, which grew 29 percent since the last census and is about five percent of Wheaton's total population of 52,894 residents. 

The jobless rate rose to 9.1 percent in May, the weakest reading since September, according to a Reuters report Friday on HuffingtonPost.com.  , which say they've seen consistent usage in food pantries, job search assistance and other assistance available in the community. Following the release of the report, Republican U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam called the 27 jobs reports since the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 'underwhelming.'

A Pennsylvania man accused of drugging a rival dog handler's Siberian husky at a Wheaton show in December is denying charges of cruelty to animals and attempted criminal damage to property, according to a Daily Herald article.

The Taste of Wheaton kicked off Thursday and will run through Sunday with carnival rides and entertainment throughout downtown Wheaton all weekend. (Come see us at the Patch tent!)

The  in Charleston, IL. Wheaton Warrenville South's Charlie Pinedo finished in sixth place in the 200-meter dash. Pinedo also finished fourth in the 4x100 meter relay and sixth in the 4x200 meter relay along with seniors Titus Davis and Andrew Dabish and junior Dan Vitale.
