Wheaton police and the FBI are searching for a tall white man who allegedly robbed the TCF Bank branch inside Jewel Osco at 2031 Main Street Tuesday afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to call the  or FBI.

Business owners and residents weighed in on the Special Service Area (SSA) proposed by the  to replace the SSA that expires in April 2012. Without the SSA, the DWA—an organization that promotes business in downtown Wheaton with major events and promotions and recruiting efforts—would cease to exist, said DWA President Keven Graham.

Michael Jacob, 20, was found guilty of one count of aggravated possession of child pornography Wednesday. He was sentenced to 364 days in jail, 24 months of sex offender counseling and probation, and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The District 200 board of education approved recommendations Wednesday to rename the Wheaton North High School commons area after Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Staff Sgt. Robert Miller, who is also a 2002 graduate of . The district also approved a tree planted in Miller's name, a curriculum that supports the six pillars of the Medal of Honor and a perpetuating scholarship for Wheaton North graduates.



District 200 Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris recommended the issuance of an RFP for consideration of contracting with a new auditing firm after 10 years with Baker Tilly. While district reviews of the relationship with Baker Tilly are positive, Harris said there have been a few concerns and suggested the district explore its alternatives.
