Thunderstorms Expected to Return to Wheaton, Glen Ellyn

Chance of storms Thursday is 40 percent and 50 percent Friday and Saturday.

Thunderstorms could return to the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn areas this week starting late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for DuPage and surrounding counties about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, predicting storms across central Illinois Wednesday and Thursday.

"There is a chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Thursday night across most of the outlook area... And then Friday from Chicago into northwest Indiana. The probability of widespread hazardous weather during these periods is low," NWS reports.

Thursday should be cloudy, with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and a 50 percent chance of storms Thursday night. Friday will also be cloudy, with a 50 percent chance of storms. Wind gusts will be lower, though, with the highest reaching 15 mph, NWS reports. 

The storms are not expected to be severe, according to NWS.
