Wheaton Theater to Add Security for 'The Dark Knight Rises' After Aurora Shooting

Wheaton movie theater takes extra measures to ensure safety during opening weekend of "The Dark Knight Rises" at Studio Movie Grill.

After 12 people were killed in a shooting that broke out during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, CO, Studio Movie Grill (SMG) President Brian Schultz says the theaters will take measures to increase security this weekend.

“We have security measures in place, but for the continued safety of our patrons and staff, we are actively working with local law enforcement to add additional security to our theaters immediately and are reviewing current safety and security procedures," Brian Schultz, president of SMG said in a statement.

"Being a safe place for all our guests and staff is and will continue to be a top priority for SMG and we take that responsibility very seriously," Schultz said.

Wheaton Chief Mark Field said the theater has contacted his patrol commander and requested contracts to hire off-duty officers. The contracts have not yet been returned, he said.
