Wheaton native and comedic legend John Belushi died an early death 31 years ago on March 5. At age 33, he was found dead of a drug overdose in the Chateau Marmont hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

But well before the downfall into drugs, Belushi was a standout on the Wheaton Central High School football team, the Chicago Tribune reported March 5, 2012. His high school drama teacher introduced him to Second City Theater. He joined the Second City improv troupe in 1971 and appeared in "National Lampoon's Lemmings" off-Broadway in 1972, according to the Tribune.
