Park District to Celebrate "Worldwide Day of Play"

Park District takes part in Nickelodeon's "Worldwide Day of Play" Saturday, Sept. 24.

Wheaton Park District’s Parks Plus Fitness and Kidz Kingdom will provide a local destination for Nickelodeon’s eighth annual Worldwide Day of Play at the , 1777 S. Blanchard Road.

The Worldwide Day of Play is a health and wellness event designed to remind children to stay active. All of Nickelodeon's television networks and websites will go off-air/offline for part of the day to encourage families nationwide to play. This year is expected to be the largest WWDOP ever, with events scheduled worldwide including daylong activities in Washington, DC and a visit from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Kids and families interested in participating locally are welcome to visit the Wheaton Community Center, from 11am until 3pm, for complimentary:

  • Youth Fitness Classes
  • Health Discussions
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Obstacle Course
  • Healthy Snacks & Beverages
  • Magical performances by Jeanette Andrews … and more!

Health and wellness vendors, including ProActive Kids, Entrée Kitchen, Costco, and DuPage Chiropractics, plan to attend and offer practical suggestions for a healthy family lifestyle.

Special Day of Play offers will include kid pedometers for the first 100 visitors who bring in a completed Day of Play Activity Sheet, (www.parksplusfitness.com/youthfitness) as well as Family Fitness Membership discounts and premiums for enrolling in some youth fitness classes.
