Park District Sponsors New Triathlon

Wheaton Park District sponsors Tri-no-mite 2012 Triathlon Sunday, Aug. 5.

Sunday, August 5th from 7:00am-Noon, the Wheaton Park District invites anyone 11 years old and up to swim, ride and run their way toward all around fitness by joining the Tri-no-mite 2012 Triathlon.

“We’re really excited about this new event,” says Vanessa Peca, Parks Plus Fitness Center Manager. “If you’ve been curious about triathlons, this is a great way to start.”

This “mini-triathlon” is perfect for those new to the sport, as well as athletes hoping to set an event record this season. Participants swim for ten minutes, ride stationary bikes for twenty minutes and then run for twenty minutes. The swim will be held outdoors in the lanes at Rice pool. Running and riding will take place indoors at the Wheaton Park District Community Center. Short transition times between each event will allow athletes to change clothes before moving to the next event.
