Park District Considers Daycare Program at Arrowhead Golf Club

Park District officials and staff discussed the idea of a daycare program at Arrowhead Golf Club for restaurant and golf patrons.

Wheaton Park District officials considered daycare as an additional source of revenue for during a board meeting Wednesday. Park District staff included the idea as an “opportunity” for the park district in a business report for the board.

Andy Bendy, Director of Special Facilities at the park district, explained that the daycare wouldn’t be an all day program, but a service available to restaurant and golf patrons who are unable to find a babysitter. Park District Executive Director Mike Benard compared the idea to Kidz Kingdom, a daycare program currently offered at Parks Plus Fitness.

Board member Phil Luetkehans said he thought of one of the downstairs rooms at Arrowhead as a potential space for the service. “That may be a way for us to increase family participation … and use that space that has been un-utilized,” Luetkehans said.

“I like the idea … I think it’s something where we shouldn’t just say ‘okay it was a nice idea’ and forget,” he added.

Vice President Terry Mee suggested the park district develop “a very short survey” for Arrowhead patrons to gauge interest in “some type” of daycare.
