New at the Wheaton Park Disrict: Derby Lite

Park district offers new roller derby class.

This Fall, the Wheaton Park District is offering Derby Lite, Roller Skating for Fun & Fitness. The new fall session runs on Mondays, September 26, 2011 to December 12, 2011, from 7:15-8:45 p.m. at the Central Athletic Center (Old Hubble School), 603 S. Main Street in Wheaton. Participants must be 18 years or older. Cost of the session is $160 for residents and $200 for non-residents. To register, go to www.wheatonparkdistrict.com or call 630-690-4880.

Because this is a new class offered by the park district, Get in Gear Day is being offered on August 29, 2011 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Central Athletic Center. Bring your helmet, watch a demo, try on skates and test out equipment to see if Derby Lite is for you. Equipment will be available to use for a trial run.  Ladies will be there to demonstrate how the class is run and what fun is to be had. This is a FREE one day event.

Derby Lite was founded by a retired roller derby player as a recreational league that provides roller skating for fun and fitness. Click for more information regarding Derby Lite, including videos of classes.
