Nationally Known Attorney to Speak at Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast

The Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee will sponsor its 26th annual prayer breakfast, 7-8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at The Wyndham Hotel, 3000 Warrenville Rd., Lisle. Reservation deadline is Aug. 26.

The keynote speaker for the 2011 breakfast is attorney David C. Gibbs III. Gibbs attained national recognition when he represented the family of Robert and Mary Schindler in their fight to keep their daughter, Terri Schiavo, on life support, agains their son-in-law's wishes. Gibbs has represented many Christians in their fight to retain their religious liberties, especially those related to providing a Christian education for their children.

Gibbs grew up in a legal family. His father David C. Gibbs, Jr. is the founder of the Christian Law Association. As a boy, he tagged along with his dad to court and developed a love for the law, the Bible and God’s people. Gibbs graduated Duke Law School in 1993 at the top of his class. He then joined his father serving as an attorney for the Christian Law Association. He has written five books, including Fighting for Dear Life: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo and What It Means for All of Us.

The prayer breakfast program will include music by Roy Patterson, station manager for Moody Bible Radio, the invocation, readings from the Old and New Testaments, Gibbs’ address and the benediction.

The prayer breakfast honors Wheaton's mayor, city council members, city administrators, township officials and boards of education, park district, sanitary district, chamber of commerce and the Downtown Wheaton Association. The breakfast event is attended annually by representatives of the professional, educational, business and religious communities, as well as other area residents. All are welcome.

Individual tickets are $15 each. Organizations, businesses or individuals who sponsor a table of 10 for $225 will be listed in the program book. Reservations should be made before Aug. 26 by mailing checks to the Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast, P.O. Box 1063, Wheaton 60189-1063. Tickets will be sent in advance of the event. 

The Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee was formed to provide spiritual encouragement for local leaders in administering their God-ordained responsibilities for the benefit of our community.
