July 13 Storm Knocks Out Power to Wheaton Customers

The Friday storm left more than 2,000 Wheaton customers without power.

Friday's storm was nowhere near as damaging as the July 1 stormโ€”but as of 1 p.m. Saturday, 2,261 customers remain without power in Wheaton, according to ComEd's outage map.

Big storm, small storm, doesn't matter -- Com Ed fails every test. We're without power at least 4 times a year, and there hasn't been a single year in the past 15+ we've lived in Wheaton where we didn't lose power for at least 24 hours. Can our elected officials please address the problem. We know it's going to cost a lot and take a while, but at least get us started with a plan to bury lines or whatever it takes. If we need to get rid of Com Ed, so be it. But power losses are costing Wheaton residents (and insurers) millions of dollars.

I believe Com Ed was just afforded a rate increase to build a smarter grid. Lets hope it gets better soon because I do agree with you its a little silly to lose power just when the wind blows.

J Adago, have you tried talking to a councilman—either at a meeting, giving them a call or at the monthly Coffee with Council events?

Thanks for that info, ag.
