Holiday Bazaar to Benefit Historical Museum

The annual Holiday Bazaar at the DuPage County Historical Museum is Saturday Nov. 10, with handmade ornaments, wreaths, holiday decorations and other stocking stuffers for sale.

The DuPage County Historical Museum will host the 29th Annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 10th from 10am until 3:30pm. Entrance to the Bazaar is free. Sponsored by the Museum Guild, the Bazaar offers handmade ornaments, wreaths, holiday decorations and other stocking stuffers at this popular, traditional sale.

“These are nice little gifts for friends, family or even the kid’s teachers,” says Mary Udelhofen, President of the Guild. “We work all year long, making these ornaments. And all the money goes to the museum.”

The Museum Guild was founded thirty years ago as a volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds for the museum. Ten members of the Guild are still active, all between the ages of 70 and 85 years. These dedicated volunteers create all the handcrafted items available at the sale.

This year special entertainment will be offered at the Bazaar between 12pm and 1pm. The adult chorus, “Beyond Glee,” will perform a selection of popular carols, adding to the festive holiday atmosphere. Local vendors will also be on hand, including Thirty One, Lia Sophia, and Tastefully Simple, offering purses, jewelry and easy-to-prepare foods.

Bazaar shoppers are also invited to visit the unique “Granny’s Attic” area where small white-elephant items for the home will be offered for sale, including decorative items and kitchen gear. Donations for Granny’s Attic are being accepted at the museum front desk. All sales benefit the Museum.
