Drowning Death Ruled an Accident

Cook County Medical Examiner's Office concludes its investigation into the death of a 16-month-old Wheaton child.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that the drowning death of a 16-month-old Wheaton toddler was an accident, a spokeswoman said.

Zoie Michele Zurawski, of the 500 block of Birch Drive, died June 18 at the Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, following a fall into a pool the previous day.

According to press reports, the incident happened at approximately 11:40 a.m. June 17  when the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Oswego Fire Protection District, responded to a call that the child fell into a swimming pool at a home in the 0-99 block of Aldon Road, Montgomery, in unincorporated Kendall County.

The Kendall County sheriff's office is investigating, but believes the death was “a tragic accident,” according to these reports.
