Don't Forget to Spring Forward Today

In exchange for that lost hour of sleep, we get more daylight. And who isn't ready for that?

It's all over facebook. People are talking about it in the grocery store, at the salon, at the Girl Scout meeting and at work.

"I'm just not feeling 'myself,' " they say. "I just don't know what's wrong with me."

They're dragging, they're tired ALL the time and motivation is lacking.

More than likely, it's a classic case of the winter doldrums, which usually really takes hold in late Febrary and early March. There's never enough sunlight. The days are short, and even during daylight hours, clouds are plentiful.

"Has the sun burned out? I mean, shouldn't we call someone?" one facebook post reads.

Well, there's good news. Beginning tomorrow, we all will have one more hour of daylight—and all it will cost you is one hour of sleep. Now, granted, sleep is precious and no one really wants to lose any of that, but the trade-off will be worth it. More daylight means more motivation, more time outside to get your garden planted or exercise and, best of all, it means that we're really getting close to spring.

Set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed tonight. (It's also a great time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.)

What are you going to do with your extra daylight?
