Cantigny Golf is proud to be among the 30-plus golf courses chosen nationwide to host the 2012 summer TOUR Academy Junior Golf Camps, and one of just two in Chicagoland.
Cantigny will offer Half Day and Full Day one-week camps (Monday-Friday) beginning in June for golfers ages 8 to 16. All skill levels are welcome, and each camp will have a maximum of 18 students. Greg Baresel, Cantigny PGA Teaching Professional, will serve as lead instructor.
“The TOUR Academy camps are a serious and also fun learning opportunity for all junior golfers” said Connie DeMattia, Cantigny Golf director of instruction and camp director. “The kids will really enjoy the young teaching staff here at Cantigny.”
The Full Day camps are designed for boys and girls ages 9 to 16 and will be offered June 11-15 and July 9-13. Camp hours are 9 am to 4 pm. Cost per camp is $550 and includes lunch each day.
Full Day camp begins each morning with golfers rotating through skill stations devoted to putting, chipping, bunker play and full swing. Lunch is then provided on-site, followed by 9 holes of golf accompanied by TOUR Academy instructors. The on-course session will include instruction on course management, club selection, rules and etiquette.
Half Day camps, for boys and girls ages 8 to 13, will be held June 25-29 and July 23-27. Cost per camp is $315.
As in the Full Day camps, Half Day campers will rotate through skill stations each morning. Additional emphasis will be on golf rules and etiquette to ensure that each camper learns all aspects of the game.
All campers will receive a complimentary package with a student workbook (tips, rules and pages for instructor notes) and sponsor gifts including a dozen Bridgestone golf balls, a Bridgestone cap and an OGIO backpack.
