Bike to Work Week Coincides With Dump the Pump Day
Wheaton asks residents to bike to work this week. The American Public Transportation Alliance will celebrate the sixth annual Dump the Pump Day Thursday.
The City of Wheaton officially proclaimed this week “Bike to Work Week” in Wheaton.
Bike to Work Week is intended to increase public awareness of bicycling and encourage residents to reduce pollution, conserve fossil fuel and improve their health and well-being, according to a press release from the city. The event is put on by the Environmental Improvement Commission in cooperation with the Active Transportation Alliance, which also will be hosting bike “pit stops” at other Metra stations throughout the week.
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and public transportation systems across the country will celebrate the sixth annual National Dump the Pump Day Thursday, Jun. 16.
