Wheaton North Band Takes First Place Again!

Despite the rain, the Marching Falcons present a spectacular show and impress the judges. The Wheaton North Band was rewarded with a first place finish.

The Wheaton North High School Marching Falcons placed first out of seven teams in its division at the Marching Mustang Music Bowl held at Downers Grove South High School on Saturday, October 13.  Also in its division, WNHS won first place for outstanding percussion, first place for visual general effect, first place for music general effect, and first place for outstanding drum majors.  This was the first win at the Downers Grove Festival in the history of the Wheaton North Marching Band.

Overall competition awards were also presented.  WNHS received the award for overall outstanding drum majors.  The school’s three drum majors are seniors Elizabeth Kapitaniuk and Brad Weeder and junior Rebekah Slinger.  Also, the band placed third overall for outstanding percussion.  Because of the first place in their division, the band was invited to perform in the finals competition that same evening.

WNHS was one of twenty bands competing at the festival.  Each band was judged on music performance, visual performance, general effect, and percussion.
