Stacey Zalga wanted the fourth home she purchased to have what she truly wanted and meet the needs of her on-the-go life. Her search led her to College Station in Wheaton where she decided to build a home with Airhart Construction. She has enjoyed living in her new home for the past four months.
As a busy, single career woman working in the relocation industry, Stacey found the maintenance-free component and the ability to customize her home at College Station most appealing. “Working full time, it is reassuring to know that the yard work and snow removal are taken care of.”
Moving from a condominium home in Lisle, Zalga was pleased to be able to make custom changes and color selections. “Heather and Dana assisted me with selections, were flexible and offered many helpful ideas to make the home my own,” she said.
“Having a great kitchen was very important to me. I upgraded the cabinets, light fixtures, countertops and added an island in the kitchen and upgraded the tile in the baths. Since it’s just me, I also opted to configure the three bedrooms into two larger bedrooms.”
Stacey, a cat lover and owner of two felines, collaborated with Airhart Construction to create a customized out-of-sight closet litter box solution in the English basement of her home. “We made a cut-out hole to accommodate the litter box to keep it out of view. We also took one quarter of the basement and made one huge closet for off-season and holiday storage,” she added.”
The location was an attraction at College Station. “Although I don’t take the train to work it’s nice to have it nearby. You can also walk or bike the Prairie Path to either downtown Glen Ellyn or Wheaton since College Station is located halfway between them both.”
College Station in Wheaton is Airhart Construction’s newest single-family community of only 14 homes with five of the homes already spoken for. The cottage-style homes have rear-loaded two-car garages, resulting in a more efficiently spaced design and an attractive front exterior. Buyers can choose from and are able to customize three ranch and two-story distinctive designs ranging from two to three bedrooms and two to two and one-half baths with base prices ranging from $349,980 to $384,600.
Set at the intersection of Blanchard and Avery, College Station is situated within an established neighborhood that is across the street from a park, the Illinois Prairie Path, is a block away from the College Avenue Metra train station, and a half mile from both downtown Wheaton and downtown Glen Ellyn, near local shopping destinations.
Spacious rooftop decks are a new option at College Station and provide approximately 200 square feet of ample outdoor living space that’s ideal for entertaining friends, barbecuing, catching a suntan, growing plants and vegetables in pots, and more. A modest monthly fee covers routine maintenance for lawn care, landscaping upkeep and leaf/snow removal.
