Wheaton Resident Chosen for Executive Role at Edward

A Wheaton resident will take on an executive role at the new health system created when Edward Hospital and Health System and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare merged.

Susan Mitchell, of Wheaton, was recently named System Executive Vice President of Human Resources for the new healthcare system.

Mitchell was previously with Tribune Company where she was a Corporate Officer and held various positions in Human Resources the past 13 years, most recently as Vice President, according to a news release from Edward Hospital and Health Services.  Prior to joining Tribune, Mitchell was Regional Vice President of Pro Staff Staffing Services, Regional Vice President of Kelly Services and Area Vice President of Adia Personnel in New York.

In addition, Mitchell is also on the boards of DuPage County’s Family Shelter Service and BioTechLogic, and is a member of the New York University Tisch Parents’ Council and Society for Human Resources Executives, the news release said. 

She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.

The merger between the two health systems was completed on July 1, as Elmhurst Patch reported.

The merger creates an integrated health system comprised of three hospitals—Edward, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward—with revenues of about $1 billion and more than 50 outpatient locations across a service area of 1.7 million residents.  The system employs nearly 7,700 and has more than 1,680 physicians on staff.  System naming/branding will be determined in the coming months.

In May, Mary Lou (“Lou”) Mastro was named president and CEO of Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare effective July 1.  Gina Sharp was promoted to president of Linden Oaks at Edward, replacing Mastro. Chris Mollet is system executive vice president and general counsel, and Vince Pryor is system executive vice president and chief financial officer

  • Mary Kay Ladone, trustee, of Lisle, vice president investor relations, Baxter International
