Visions for Vacancies: Ready for a New Run on Main Street

Our newest column asks readers what types of businesses they'd like to see in vacant storefronts in Glen Ellyn.

Downtown Glen Ellyn is the heart of the village. Unlike many downtowns, it boasts a wide-variety of independently-owned businesses. Businesses come and go, move or close and there are some vacancies to be found downtown and around Glen Ellyn.

When moved up the street to its new location 515 Crescent Blvd., an empty space was left behind in a prime Main Street location at 476 N. Main St.

In keeping with the uniqueness of Glen Ellyn’s downtown, what type of business do you think would be a great addition to the downtown and would do well at that location?

Let Glen Ellyn Patch know! Share your vision for this Main Street vacancy in our comments section.

Stationery store, place where you can buy things as mundane as socks, delicatessen (like Spice n Easy), gas station, place where kids would like to hang out and shop after school for something as mundane as jeans. We're now sort of a baby and restaurant emporium. Surely there is more?

Some kind of anchor store that would bring people into Glen Ellyn

I would love to see more options for a fast take-out lunch in the CBD. I love The Patio, but it can get boring having the same couple things every day.

I think like a seven eleven store , some place where you can buy general grocery stuff when mcchensey and miller is closed , alot people dont drive , who live downtown.
