Survey on Downtown Strategic Plan Ends Nov. 2

A survey asking residents their opinions for a strategic plan for downtown Wheaton ends Friday, Nov. 2.

In its effort to create a strategic plan for downtown Wheaton, the city has conducted an online survey, asking residents what they hope to see in the future of the downtown.

Design Workshop, the consulting firm leading the city’s efforts to develop a long-term strategic plan for the downtown, will close the survey on Nov. 2.

The process to create a strategic downtown plan and streetscape plan is moving along. Design Workshop is using the information it gathered during its analysis of existing conditions and added feedback from the Sept. 18 Community Visioning Session to begin to develop some ideas for the community and City Council to consider, according to a message from the City of Wheaton.

City officials hope at least 1,000 people take the survey before it closes.

Residents have responded they would support public spending for the downtown plan, and see flooding as the most pressing issue facing downtown Wheaton.

The plan alternatives will be presented at an upcoming public meeting, where the community can weigh in again through keypad polling questions.
