Positive Signs Popping Up in Wheaton Business Community

City email promoting retail opportunities points to some of the positive things happening locally.

The government shutdown and debate over Obamacare and the nation’s debt ceiling have drawn plenty of gloom-and-doom predictions on both sides of the aisle, but it should not overshadow some of the good things happening right here in Wheaton.


The economy’s not as it was seven years ago, before the advent of the Great recession, but there are some positive things happening in the business community, according to an email sent Wednesday by the city of Wheaton.


The email pitches retail opportunities in the city as an option to consider for businesses that might be looking to expand.

“If you’re attending this year’s ICSC Chicago Dealmaking Event... visit with City of Wheaton representatives to find out more about the many retail and redevelopment opportunities in Wheaton,” the email states in it’s opening.


It then immediately launches into the business openings — recent, pending or even under construction — in the city:

  • DuPage Medical Group-LFI Inc.: 40,000-square-foot medical office building going up in downtown Wheaton is due to open in spring 2014.
