Naperville's New Standard Market Plans Gelato Bar With 12 Flavors

Offerings include Birthday Cake, Tiramisu, Raspberry Cheesecake and Basil Cinnamon as well as standbys like vanilla and chocolate.

Gelato flavors like Birthday Cake, Salted Caramel and Basil Cinnamon are among the offerings at a gelato bar planned for the 40,000-square-foot Standard Market, opening this May at 1508 Aurora Ave.

The gelato bar will have 12 made-from-scratch flavors, including dairy-free coconut gelato and lemon and blueberry pomegranate sorbet.

“We are excited to bring this gelato bar, which is not available at our original Westmont location, to the Naperville area just in time for summer,” Standard Market executive chef Brian Wright said in a press release. “Standard Market’s fresh, high quality products are a reflection of everything in our store, including our homemade gelato which features no stabilizers and only real ingredients.”

Standard Market will be located near the intersection of Ogden and Aurora avenues and is designed to "evoke European-style open-air markets," according to the Standard Market website. Offerings will include produce, freshly butchered meats, seafood, a from-scratch bakery, in-house deli, coffee bar and wine and cheese collection. Shoppers can also dine at Standard Market Grill, a fast-casual restaurant focusing on seasonal ingredients.

A building that was once a Frank's Nursery and later an antique store was demolished to make way for the new grocery. Standard Market's first location, in Westmont at 333 E. Ogden Ave., also has a casual restaurant inside.
