Mariano's to Purchase 11 Dominick's Stores in Chicago Area

Written by Cristel Mohrman

Mariano's Fresh Market will purchase 11 Dominick's stores in the Chicago suburbs, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

The $36 million deal includes Dominick's locations in Aurora, Western Springs, Westchester and Park Ridge, according to the Daily Herald. All of the stores will be converted into Mariano's, which is owned by Roundy's, Inc., according to the Daily Herald.

The news comes as Dominick's prepares to close all 72 of its Chicago market stores. The stores, which includes the Dominick's at 91 Danada Square E in Wheaton, are scheduled to close by Dec. 28.

New Albertson's, the parent company of Jewel-Osco, has purchased four other stores in the Chicago suburbs.

I am wondering when the Dominick's in Danada will be purchased. Jewel is going to become very busy once Dominick's closes-are they staffing more? (Not to mention the already apparent parking "issues" there!!!) Most importantly, my thoughts are with all of the wonderful employees at the Dominick's in Danada-I have shopped there for years and have been treated with such kindness by them. My 81 yr. old mom is devastated since Dominick's is close and so spacious compared to Jewel, she feels "lost" and is hoping for some good news soon!!!!

Yes, I agree! The employees are wonderful and the parking is excellent. I dislike the Jewel parking and the congestion! I'll be going to Ultra Foods!

Wouldn't it be great if Ultra moved into the current Dominick's space?!

That is a great idea!
